    Chaitra Navratri 2024

    Navratri is one of the famous festivals of Sanatan dharma which is celebrated twice a year as Chaitra Navratri and Sharad Navratri. It is one of the major festivals of Hindus, which is dedicated to 9 different Avtar of goddess Shakti.

    9 Avtar of maa Durga is worshiped during 9 days of Navratri. Mostly Chaitra and autumn Navratri are celebrated, whereas very few people know that Navratri comes 4 times in a year: Ashadha, Chaitra, Ashwin, and Magh. Navratri comes in Chaitra month known as Basant Navratri Navratri comes in Ashwin month known as Shardiya Navratri and Navratri comes in Ashadh and Magh month is known as Gupt Navratri.

    When is Chaitra Navratri in 2024? Date and pooja auspicious time

    Believers of goddess Durga wait for Chaitra Navratri throughout the year. the Chaitra Navratri is celebrated from the 1st day of Vikram Samvat, that is Pratipada tithi of Shukla paksha of Chaitra month till 9 days that is Navami tithi. Chaitra Navratri marks the start of the summer season. This generally falls in March and April.

    The last day of Chaitra Navratri which is Navami tithi is celebrated as the birth of lord ram. This is also known as ram Navami. It is believed that on this day lord ram was born in Ayodhya from the womb of mother Kaushalya. This is the main reason Chaitra Navratri is known as Ram Navami.

    Importance of Navratri

    The 9 days of Navratri are important for the believers of the goddess Durga. During these 9 days, the believers of the goddess Durga worship with true heart and devotion, also these 9 days consider auspicious for any new work.

    Navratri is celebrated with utmost devotion by Hindus. According to the Hindu Calander, Navratri is celebrated from the start of the new year till Ram Navami. To receive the blessings of maa Durga, worship, chants, and other religious rituals of 9 Avtar of goddess Durga are performed during Navratri.     During the 9 days of Navratri, 9 Avtar of goddess Durga are Maa Shailputri, Maa Brahmacharini, Maa Chandra ghanta, Maa Kush Manda, Maa Skanda Mata, Maa Katyayani, Maa Kalratri, Maa Mahagauri, Maa Siddhi Atri are worshipped.

    1. Maa Shailputri: Out of 9 Avtar of maa Durga, the 1st Avtar is God Maa Shailputri, who represents the moon. By worshipping Maa Shailputri, the defects associated with the moon are removed.
    2. Maa Brahmacharini: Mars is controlled by Maa Brahmacharini. By worshipping Maa Brahmacharini, the negative effects of Mars are removed.
    3. Maa Chandra ghanta: Maa Chandra ghanta is the 3rd Avtar of maa Durga, she controls the planet, Venus. By worshipping Maa Chandra ghanta, the ill effect of planet Venus is reduced.
    4. Maa Kush Manda: Maa Kush Manda shows the path of lord Surya, by worshipping Maa Kush Manda the inauspicious effects of the sun can be reduced.
    5. Maa Skanda: Worship of Maa Skanda reduces the defects and negative effects related to plant mercury.
