    When is Durga puja starting?

    According to the Vedic calendar, Durga puja begins on the 6th day of Sharadiya Navratri, which ends with sindoor Khela on the day of Vijayadashami. This time the 6th day of Sharadiya Navratri is falling on 9th October 2024, which will end on 12th October 2024 on the day of Vijayadashami. Before this, the festival of Bilva Nimantran will be celebrated on 8th October 2024.

    Kalparambha

    The celebration of Durga puja starts with the worship of Kalparambha, which going to be celebrated on 9th October 2024. On this day, Goddess Saraswati, goddess Durga, goddess Lakshmi, lord Kartikeya, and lord Ganesha are worshiped. On this day, people remove the curtain from the idol of Maa Durga.

    Navpatrika Puja

    Navpatrika puja is going to be performed on 10th October 2024. Along with worshipping Goddess Durga on this day, one leaf each of banana, raw turmeric, pomegranate, Ashoka, beads, paddy, bilva, and barley is tied together and worshipped, which is known as Mahasnan.

    Sandhi Puja

    The Sandhi puja is going to be celebrated on 11th October 2024. This is an auspicious day to worship Goddess Durga.

    Maha Navami

    The sindoor Kela is celebrated on Vijayadashami, the last day of Durga Puja. Maha Navami puja is performed on 12th October 2024. Also, honey, curd, and milk are offered to maa. During Sindoor khela, women offer vermilion to maa Durga. And after that, they apply vermilion to each other.
