    The most auspicious time for Govardhan Puja is from 6:32 Am to 8:04 Am. Doing puja during this time gives the blessings of the Lord and fulfills all the wishes of devotees. The evening time is from 3:23 Pm to 5:36 Pm. After puja, people also offer special bhog, which has sweets, vegetables, and other delicious dishes.


    Method of worship

    On Govardhan Puja, first take a bath in the morning, make an idol of Govardhan mountain, and Shri Krishna from cow dung. Then decorate the idol with flowers and rangoli. During this, offer fruits, water, lamps, incense, and gifts to God. You can also offer curry and Annakut rice. After this, do puja in the evening and Parikrama.

    On Govardhan Puja Day, grand events are also organized in many places. Special prayers are offered in temples and people give sweets to each other. This festival is celebrated with great enthusiasm in Gokul, where lakhs of people gather. Many people perform parikrama of Govardhan mountain on this day.

    Govardhan Puja is celebrated in memory of lord Krishna lifting the Govardhan mountain. When Indra Dev troubled the people of Gokul with rain, then Lord Krishna lifted the Govardhan mountain on his little finger and saved the lives of villagers. On Govardhan Puja day, people worship Govardhan, and especially “Govardhan” is made as a symbol of this mountain.
