What is Vrat Shani Pradosh?

Shani Pradosh Vrat is an auspicious day on which prayers are offered and fasts will be observed in the name of Lord Shiva, Maa Parvati, and Lord Shani Dev. On this day, the powers of 3 deities merge to bless their believers. Also, Bholenath pleased easily, making this the best time to worship and gratify him.

You might also think why do we worship Shani Dev on this day? Every month, 2 Pradosh Vrats are observed, one during the Shukla Paksha and the other in Krishna Paksha. Vrat Shani Pradosh Katha

There was a merchant whose name was Sethji. He had all the comforts and luxuries in life but didn’t have a kid. He feels sad about not having a child and sheds tears thinking about it. Also, one day he and his wife Sethni, went for Tirth Yatra, hoping to fulfill their wishes.

While on their way, they met Sadhu, who was in a meditation position. They waited for him to come in a normal sense and take their blessings before beginning the journey. Also, while they waited for a long time, Sadhu came out of his meditative state and saw that the couple was waiting for a long time.

Before they said anything, Sadhu sensed their problems and advised them to keep Shani Pradosh Vrat. They agreed, got his blessings, and went on their journey. A few days later, they returned and performed Shani Pradosh Vrat, which later blessed them with a baby boy.

Shani Pradosh Mantra

The Sadhu has instructed them to chant a mantra daily as they offer prayers to Lord Shiva and goddess Parvati. The mantra is:

O Rudradev Shiva Namaskar

Shivshankar Jagguru Namaskar

O Neelkanth Sur Namaskar

Shashi Mauli Chandra Sukh Namaskar

O Umakant Sudhi Namaskar

Fierce mind Namaskar

Ishan Ish Prabhu Namaskar

Shani Pradosh Vrat 2025: Puja Rituals

If you observing the Shani Pradosham vrat for the 1st time, then here is how you will do so by following the step-by-step rituals.

1.  The first thing you need to do is wake up an hour before sunrise, take a bath, and prepare for the puja.

2.  Make sure you properly clean the puja room where you will be performing the vrat rituals.

3.  Before beginning the ritual, prepare Kalash by drawing lotus on it and placing it on Drabha grass. Make sure to fill it with water while chanting “Om Namah Shivay”.

4.  To start, prepare a holy offering (Bhog), light a lamp with ghee, and after bathing, offer bel leaves and Panchamrit to the Shivling.

5.  Begin by offering flowers, incense sticks, and fruits and chanting “Om Namah Shivay”.

6.  Ensures that married couples will perform the rituals together and sit together to chant the Shiv Mantra.

7.  You should also do mala jap with Rudraksha and chant “Mahamrityunjaya Mantra” 108 times.

8.  If you are keeping a bath then you need to bathe in the evening, wear white clothes, and perform Shiv Parvati puja.

9.  Offer mustard oils Diya and place them under a peepal tree.
