Story of sheshnaag

According to mythology, when gods and demons fought for dominance of the universe, they decided to churn the milky ocean to find Amrita, the nectar of immortality. They use sheeshnaag as a rope to lift the mountain, with Mandara as the churning stick.

The goddess Laxmi and poison Halahala appeared as gods and demons started to stir the seas. The toxin threatened to end the universe as it was lethal. Also, sheshnaag was such a big and strong serpent he took all poison to prevent the end of the universe. After, he drank the poison, his thousand head started to smoke and his body went blue. Lord Vishnu on sheeshnaag

Lord Vishnu is always seen sitting on sheeshnaag. This portrayal of Lord Vishnu on sheeshnaag is a symbol of his strength and it denotes his function as the defender of the cosmos.

Birth of lord Krishna

According to Hindu mythology, lord Krishna was shielded from the demon king Kansa when he was born because he wanted to kill him. Lord Krishna lived with Nanda in far-off villages with his father Vasudeva to keep him safe.
