Utpanna or Utpatti Ekadashi is the 11th day of the disappearing phase of Krishna Paksha in November or December. Utpanna Ekadashi is the birth anniversary of Goddess Ekadashi, one of the Shakti of Lord Vishnu. We keep fast on this day to get relief from all kinds of sins of our past and present lives. After Kartik month, Krishna Paksha Ekadashi comes. We know it as Utpanna Ekadashi. This Utpanna Ekadashi story is spiritually exciting and insightful.

According to Hindu mythology, the demon Mura was a general of the Naraksura army. His violence sacred demigods as he was the one who threw lord Indra out of his throne. Indra went to lord shiva for help and Shiva took him to lord Vishnu. For many years, lord Vishnu fought with the demon.

After this Vishnu went to the cave for rest where he fell asleep. Mura planned to kill Vishnu inside the cave. The demon did not know of his last day. Ekadashi, a beautiful lady, appeared before him. She saved lord Vishnu from evil and she pleased Vishnu with her powers. He asked Ekadashi for desired rewards for killing the demon so she asked for 3 boons.

Boons of Goddess Ekadashi

Lord Vishnu granted her wishes and he made her the most auspicious day. And in this year Utpanna Ekadashi will be celebrated on 26th November 2024. The boons were:

1. Lord Vishnu will always love her and she will always be chosen first.
2. To destroy sins, she would have the most auspicious value in days.

1. People who keep fast in Utpanna Ekadashi should keep past from the dawn of Ekadashi to Dwadashi.
2. People should take a bath and wear clean clothes.
3. After that, people should sprinkle Ganga Jal in the house.
4. You should light a Diya with ghee.
5. You should worship lord Krishna and Brahma.
